CYA Female Athlete of the Year

The Female Athlete of the Year is awarded to an individual athlete or crew with a record of outstanding achievement in national and international competition and who has brought recognition to Canadian competitive sailing.

The 2007 recipient of the CYA Female Athlete of the Year award is Dominique Vallée, of Trois-Rivières, QC

Dominique has been actively pursuing an Olympic Sailing campaign in the windsurfing class for several years. She is currently a member of the Canadian Sailing Team in the RS:X class. Dominique won 1st place at the 2007 Pan Am Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A level 3 CYA coach, Dominique has developed a quality sailing program in her home club of Trois-Rivière, helping to develop and train future athletes. “Dominique is one of the most persistent athletes I have ever met. She never quits in the face of a challenge and she is a great role model for the youth of the windsurfing and sailing community”, states National Team coach Marc-André Littée.
